Types of Tapware

The decision on what type of tap is now more complicated than most people think. With innovation and technology creating many options on the market today.

​Some types of taps that are now available include:

• Pull Out Spray Taps - Now a popular modern tap for any kitchen. Pull out spray taps as the name suggests, enable the user to pull the tap out and reach all parts of a sink. They have a retractable hose and use a counter weight under the sink to easily bring the tap back into position.

• Mixer Taps - Mixer taps are simply one faucet that mixes the hot and cold water together. Now these are commonplace but once upon a time they were not. Some older buildings and homes still have separate taps each for hot and cold.

 

• Single Lever Taps - Single lever taps enable the user to control the mixing of hot and cold water with one lever. Rather than turn on hot and cold separately, single lever taps are in most cases more convenient.

 

• Twin Lever Taps - Twin lever taps allow the user to control individual pressure and temperature of the water flow from the hot and cold. In some cases having two levers is more beneficial as it enables a more precise temperature. ​

Types of Sinks

A sink installation job should be done by someone with appropriate knowledge and equipment. When choosing a new sink for your kitchen renovation, new home build, commercial kitchen or whatever the sink is for, there are many options.

The range of sinks available is always growing. New features, designs and innovations have really opened up the choice of sinks available today.

• Top Mount Drop In Sink - These are the most common type of sinks that people choose. Installed from above, the sink rests on top of a kitchen countertop and has a lip that runs around the edge.​  

• Undermount Sink - Essentially the opposite of a top mount, undermount sinks have the countertop run over the edge of the sink. The difference between the two really comes down to choice in design and not function.

 

• Double Basin Sink - Becoming more and more popular, the double basin sink is as the name suggests, a sink with two basins. Some have both basins the same size while others have one larger basin and a smaller basin side by side.

 

• Drainboard Sink - Now a fairly standard feature is a sink with a drainboard. The drainboard is where a user would usually have a dish drying rack sit so the water can drain away and stay in the sink.

As you can see there are many types of sinks to choose from, sinks can come as a combination. So you can have a double basin top mount sink with a drainboard, it’s all a matter of choice. There are even double basin corner sinks, it all depends on the preference of design and functionality.
